What I’m Looking For Next

What I’m Looking For Next

What I am looking for next is clarity.

This post concludes the series When Performance Becomes a Catch-All, and it feels fitting to be direct about what I am looking for next in my career.

Being fired for performance without warning forced reflection. It created space to evaluate not only what happened, but also what I value in a professional environment. Although the experience was unexpected, it clarified what matters most to me moving forward.

Here is what I am looking for next:

Clear expectations from the beginning.
Ongoing feedback delivered in real time.
Specific examples tied to measurable standards.
Defined communication loops between leadership and team members.
A culture where advocating for alignment is welcomed rather than penalized.

More importantly, what I am looking for next is an environment where conversations happen early, not at the end. Growth discussions should not feel risky. Alignment should not feel confrontational. Instead, communication should be consistent and constructive.

I believe in accountability. Performance standards matter. Deadlines matter. Quality matters.

However, clarity matters just as much.

Professionals deserve the opportunity to improve before decisions are final. Transparent dialogue should happen long before evaluation becomes termination. Leadership must communicate directly rather than retroactively.

Ultimately, what I am looking for next is not perfection. Rather, it is partnership. It is shared expectations. It is mutual accountability built on trust.

I advocated for alignment once.

I will do it again.

This time, in the right environment.

If this perspective resonates with you, or if you are building a team that values transparency, alignment, and strategic marketing leadership, I would welcome the conversation.
