Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

There are some books that entertain you, and then there are books that stay with you long after you turn the final page. In this Reminders of Him review, I’m sharing why this story by Colleen Hoover is one that truly stayed with me.

This Reminders of Him review reflects just how emotional and impactful this story was for me.

Reminders of Him Review: First Impressions

From the very beginning, this book pulls you into a deeply emotional journey centered around love, loss, grief, regret, and forgiveness. It is raw, honest, and incredibly human. Colleen Hoover’s writing style makes it easy to connect with every character, even when their choices are difficult to understand.

For me, this story felt like a slow burn filled with yearning, the kind that quietly builds with every chapter. There is so much tension between what the characters want and what they feel they deserve.

Ledger may try to keep his distance from Kenna, but there is an undeniable pull between them. Even when his feelings are conflicted, you can feel how much he yearns for her. Their connection is intense, complicated, and shaped by everything that happened in the past.

At the same time, both Kenna and Ledger are grieving in their own ways.

Kenna is grieving the loss of Scotty, the loss of her daughter, and the life she should have had. Ledger is grieving the loss of Scotty as well, but his grief is layered with anger toward the person he believes is responsible for that loss.

That emotional contrast between them is what makes this story so powerful. It is not just about love. It is about navigating grief, guilt, and the complicated space where those emotions collide.

Why This Reminders of Him Review Feels So Personal

What made this story hit even deeper for me was how personal it felt.

As someone who has been impacted by a drunk driver, I found myself deeply connected to Scotty’s parents and the grief they carry. Their pain felt real, heavy, and completely valid.

At the same time, I also saw pieces of myself in Kenna. Not in her exact circumstances, but in the universal truth that we all make mistakes. Some bigger than others, but mistakes nonetheless.

This story does not shy away from that reality. Instead, it asks a difficult question. How do we move forward when our past feels impossible to outrun?

Themes of Forgiveness and Growth in This Reminders of Him Review

One of the most powerful elements of Reminders of Him is its exploration of forgiveness.

Not just forgiveness from others, but forgiveness within ourselves.

Kenna’s journey is not easy. It is uncomfortable, heartbreaking, and at times frustrating. But that is what makes it feel so real. Growth is not linear, and healing is not simple.

This book reminds us that accountability and grace can exist at the same time. That people are capable of change, even after making devastating mistakes.

What stood out to me most is how this story does not separate forgiveness from accountability. Both exist at the same time, and that is what makes Kenna’s journey feel so real and so difficult.

I held it together for most of the book.

But the moment “the ring” came into play at the end, I lost it.

If you know, you know.

It was the kind of ending that brings everything full circle in the most emotional way possible. Bittersweet, hopeful, and incredibly moving.

Final Thoughts on This Reminders of Him Review

Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover is a beautifully written story that will make you feel everything. It challenges you, breaks your heart, and slowly puts it back together again.

It is a reminder that life is complicated, people are imperfect, and forgiveness is one of the hardest but most meaningful things we can give, both to others and to ourselves. I also cannot wait to see how this story is brought to life on screen.
